It’s sad that the state has become so embedded in American life, that people who simply wish to be left alone with their liberty are rebels. ~tdv @ 08.04.12
It is Unnatural, the new normal condition of life-by-state-designed & rights-by-state-defined. ~tdv @ 08.04.12

Required Reading~> Basic Concepts of “Government” by Publius Huldah …as is everything else on her blog, “Understanding the Constitution“. Really a fine resource.

Discourse that assumes special liberty for some, will finish as it started, arguing liberty for none. ~tdv @ 08.03.12

Thanks hon, for 20 years today, for our great kids, for love; my friend, my wife. ~tdv @ 08.01.12

Liberty never gets tired, or old, as someone is born every day to embrace it. Liberty doesn’t age, or become obsolete, it is only abandoned. ~tdv @ 07.31.12

Milton Friedman – on Greed; to Phil Donahue ’79
…priceless. h/t & thanks Rush Limbaugh

Is there some society you know that doesn’t run on greed?…
The world runs on individuals pursuing their separate interests. The great achievements of civilization have not come from government bureaus…
In the only cases in which the masses have escaped the kind of grinding poverty you’re talking about, the only cases in recorded history, are where they have had capitalism and largely free trade.
If you want to know where the masses are worst off, it’s exactly in the kinds of societies that depart from that…
Is it really true that political self-interest is nobler somehow than economic self-interest? You know, I think you take a lot of things for granted. Just tell me where in the world you find these angels who are going to organize society for us?

“Your driver was shot in your truck,” said the caller, a business colleague. “Your truck was loaded with marijuana. He was shot eight times while sitting in the cab. Do you know anything about your driver hauling marijuana?”
[…]
And without Patty’s knowledge, the Drug Enforcement Administration was paying his driver, Lawrence Chapa, to use the truck to bust traffickers.
