I’m a California Republican (I know, masochistic, right?) and the local talk radio is full of small business owners calling in and discussing their plans. One man, owner of a trucking firm in Ventura — 75 employees, $6 mill payroll, discussed how even as times have been tough over the last few years, he’s made it a point to make his payroll, even dipping into his own savings. He was walking by the breakroom and heard some of his employees snickering about the election and they had wanted Obama to stay President to make sure the rich pay. He then thought “what am I putting myself at risk? He then went and canceled his order for 6 new trucks (approximately $600,000 worth of an order) and is planning to layoff 20 or more people. So sad, too bad.

Notes to reader (more accurately, note to self):
1.) If the deterioration of the America that we once knew and loved seems to be worsening, well that’s because it is, but also it seems that folks who can actually write are more frequently compiling synopses that, for us dummies and amnesiacs, paint a better picture of the whole of our decline. Leastwise, I’m noticing it more.
2.) I am fully aware of the fact that I still cannot write, nor am I expert on any thing, save my living, even which may be stretch’n it. ~tdv

amd.14,s.3: No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

amd.14,s.4: The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

Is there some society you know that doesn’t run on greed?…
The world runs on individuals pursuing their separate interests. The great achievements of civilization have not come from government bureaus…
In the only cases in which the masses have escaped the kind of grinding poverty you’re talking about, the only cases in recorded history, are where they have had capitalism and largely free trade.
If you want to know where the masses are worst off, it’s exactly in the kinds of societies that depart from that…
Is it really true that political self-interest is nobler somehow than economic self-interest? You know, I think you take a lot of things for granted. Just tell me where in the world you find these angels who are going to organize society for us?

Some Things Never Change

aged, constitution, perfection, reality, timeless, truth, wisdom

Allow me to present one of those old things we read, and then instantly recognize the text as having absolute application to current times, as having a striking timelessness of truth, of reality, and even evoking eerie images and voices of individuals as they campaign for authority vested by the people. You are of course free to draw your own inferences.

Plainly, this 225 yr. old article sounds like today, in a way. You can figure out how, if you want. :]

Reference paragraph 17: Federalist No. 6: Concerning Dangers from War between the States by Alexander Hamilton 1787 (my emphasis)

From this summary of what has taken place in other countries, whose situations have borne the nearest resemblance to our own, what reason can we have to confide in those reveries, which would seduce us into the expectation of peace and cordiality between the members of the present confederacy, in a state of separation? Have we not already seen enough of the fallacy and extravagance of those idle theories which have amused us with promises of an exemption from the imperfections, the weaknesses, and the evils incident to society in every shape? Is it not time to awake from the deceitful dream of a golden age, and to adopt as a practical maxim for the direction of our political conduct, that we, as well as the other inhabitants of the globe, are yet remote from the happy empire of perfect wisdom and perfect virtue?

max·im  noun  \ˈmak-səm\
1: a general truth, fundamental principle, or rule of conduct

practical maxim
1: The Constitution of the United States

Indecorous the Exodus from American Tradition

A tactical double-standard, the left relies on our goodness to limit us, while they, without conscience, act with impunity. @

It is like fighting a war in which we say “Oh, I can’t hurt anybody”, while the enemy makes us dead, with happy faces. @

Sometimes we confuse our good manners with our good sense. When being robbed, it’s best not to say please and thanks. @

And these steady assaults on our Constitution & liberty, on our traditions & sensibilities, are extremes from which we only partly unravel. @

When we DO beat back the radical leftist advances, it is only a predetermined mine-riddled “middle ground” that we “win”. @

Radical is relative to the tradition which it seeks to overrun, traditions morph by a progression of radical departures. @

Tradition in American government is enshrined in our Declaration and Constitution, and radically indecorous is its every exodus. @

Tradition in American life includes faith, family, independence, hard work, industry, and charity, and radically impolite is its every rival. @

The “Natural Born Citizen” debate RESTS

19 Thursday Jul 2012

Tags

constitution, natural born citizen, president

Please read these thoughtful and reasoned articles regarding the definition of a “Natural Born Citizen”. Truth is truth, take it or take it.
Note: This is NOT to be confused with the birth cert. issue.

The Constitution, Vattel, and “Natural Born Citizen”: What Our Framers Knew By Publius Huldah, 07.19.12, and an article he links to:
ROMNEY, RUBIO, McCAIN AND NATURAL BORN CITIZEN By J.B. Williams, 06.11.12
Among the references cited: the lexicon in the days of our founding (Vattel’s Law of Nations), the language of the First Congress in the Naturalization Act of 1790, and even the current-day resolution in the U.S. Senate which cleared John McCain to run for President.

Conclusion:

“Natural Born Citizen”: Child born of a father who is a citizen.
Barack Hussein Obama: At birth, his father was NOT a U.S. citizen, but a subject of the British Crown.
Marco Rubio: At birth, his father was not a U.S. citizen, but a citizen of Cuba.

This is not to imply that these men are not U.S. citizens, but rather points out that they were not naturally born so, thereby making them ineligible for the office of President of the United States, as set forth in Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution.

These articles also debunk the whole “Anchor Baby” lie that foreigners giving birth in the U.S. somehow bestow U.S. citizenship upon these children.

I recommend you read both of these articles with an open and sober mind. ~tdv
