Punish the Farmers!

arbitrary power, government, justice, liberty, medical device tax, obamacare, satire, tyranny, who's next?

What say we arbitrarily single out farmers for punishment?

You know, like we do with numerous and various other producers of stuff.  I mean, they can afford it, like those rich evil bastards that make medical products that doctors and nurses use to make people healthy. Bastards!

They need punished, I say, with a special tax that nobody else has to pay! Them farmers… producing food… man! They’re not really people, anyhow.

And while we’re at it, we’ll be punishing the people that work for the farmers, and their families; the people who buy and eat the food, and their families; the people who make a living making stuff that the farmers use to farm, and their families; we’ll punish them all, but we’ll just talk about punishing the farmers, ‘cause we have got to keep up appearances, you see.

Consequences are not really consequences, so it’s all okay, because the fines we took to penalize the farmers for being farmers, we will just give some of that money to the invisible peripheral people we punished, and we’ll say “We’re here to help”, and “Look what those farmers did to you”, and “We’ve made food cheaper for everyone and available to everyone”. Nobody will be the wiser, least of all the people who hire us to do the stuff we feel like doing, like the people we just peripherally punished.

We won’t either talk about how the farmers, in this country at least, will have less money to invest in figuring out ways to grow and harvest food at lesser expense to the people who eat, since we and some of the farmers’ victims will have that money.

It is settled. It is done. We have made up our collective minds. You just witnessed the greatness of our reason.

This is a fine idea, because we say it is, and because our friends on TV say it is, too. Justice is what we say it is, and you will see in the end, that it’s best when we single people out for random punishment. You’ll see, we promise.

Oh, and the motion picture industry, people who make forks, the rap music industry, people who make toilet paper, and those rich evil bastards that make products for pets, all of these need punished, too. You’ll see, I promise. Justice!

~betters.gov

P.S. If you are one of the bastards herein mentioned, please quietly consider our subjective reprisals upon your existence as merely another cost of doing business, and accept with heartfelt gratitude that we benevolently permit you to be. (smiley face)

Below are a set of maps highlighting the source and balance of power in these United States of America, following the Nov. 06, 2012 elections, effective in 2013, and a geographical distribution by political party. Please excuse the fact that a small number of results are still pending as of this post, but I was eager to see these graphics in one place.

Take heart that we friends of liberty, we lovers of country and the Constitution, we red-blooded Americans are not alone, we’re not gone. We are widespread, we retain the Peoples House, we are represented by a strong majority of Governors and State Legislatures, and We these People continue to be the productive and dignified lifeblood of these great United States.

Is there some society you know that doesn’t run on greed?…
The world runs on individuals pursuing their separate interests. The great achievements of civilization have not come from government bureaus…
In the only cases in which the masses have escaped the kind of grinding poverty you’re talking about, the only cases in recorded history, are where they have had capitalism and largely free trade.
If you want to know where the masses are worst off, it’s exactly in the kinds of societies that depart from that…
Is it really true that political self-interest is nobler somehow than economic self-interest? You know, I think you take a lot of things for granted. Just tell me where in the world you find these angels who are going to organize society for us?

Some Common Sense Ideas for Fixing the America that Shouldn’t be Broke

04 Friday May 2012

Got sparked a little while ago on the subject of solutions to America’s problems, you know, instead of just complaining about them, and jotted down these ideas off the top of my head. Some I’ve heard, can’t say where, some I don’t recall hearing, but they may be out there.

You might guess that I’m of the opinion that government largesse and intrusion and corruption is much of the problem, and that’d make you sharp as a tack. If you are new to this sort of thing, consider that everything government has, it first took from the people, or has yet to take from the people. Also note that gov’t IS necessary, but only to the extent summarized in the Declaration, and spelled out in the Constitution. We had a deal.

Anyway, here they are, from a common sense, unedumacated perspective:
updated: 2012.05.11 07:00pm est

  1. How about a 10% flat tax, everybody pays regardless of station? 10%’s good enough for God, it oughta be good enough for gov’t. @
  2. How about a gov’t budget that only spends last year’s receipts? @
  3. How about privatizing every entitlement program? All voluntary! Charity is charity, gov’t is gov’t. See? @
  4. How about quantitative legislation? That is, law specifically measured against loss of liberty and property. @
  5. How about a per capita regulatory limit? Want to make a new law, repeal an old one. @
  6. How about a moratorium on new law, contingent on the reduction of current law by, say, 25%? @
  7. How about a per capita limit on the number of gov’t bureaucrats? @
  8. How about a sunset provision on every law and regulation? Mandated revisits. @
  9. How about every legislation be required in its text to explain its Constitutionality? @
  10. How about voter registration requirements that equal drivers license requirements? Prove identity, take a test. @
  11. How about mandatory recall/impeachment/firing of every civil servant who works against the Constitution, which they vow to protect? @
  12. How about we ban all favoritism by gov’t, whether it be race, gender, business, religion, sexual deviance, or whatever? Equality in law. @
  13. How about we kill those who are trying to kill us? Period. Let the military do its job. @
  14. How about we abolish some  Executive Departments, take your pick, like ED HHS HUD and all unaccountable Czars h/t @blove65
  15. How ‘bout we ban lawyers from making laws? @

Note: the “@” links take you to each item on twitter, if you care to reply there. List is dynamic. Please feel free to comment/add.

When We Win, What Then? I See a Market!

30 Friday Mar 2012

government, independence, liberty, market, transition

Independence need not be limited as a declaration of the United States, for it is equally suitable for the individual to assert.

Traditional Americans will gain conservative representation in November 2012, and the politicians we entrust will begin the long and arduous process of unraveling the mountainous, overbearing, corrupt government that is our current state, they will initiate the return of our country to the constitutional representative republic that it was intended to be, and activate the revival of  the founding principles that made her great.

Yes, men can govern themselves. But let us remember that men are men, and those we choose to govern are no more perfect than ourselves, and they will need the aide of we governed, not just our consent, especially in this time.

There is more, though, that brings me to the subject of this post. When we win, what then? The bitter reality is that the government is so entrenched, and of such great and myriad consequence, that its proper diminution in the life of the individual must logically be consequential as well.

As we the people demand the return of limited government, we must therefore be prepared, without the hand of government, to aide our fellow countrymen, and even ready ourselves, in the transition away from government. Left to our own devices,  as appropriate, we must rely on our own devices.

I believe our conversations leading to November, and subsequently January, should follow two tracks, first the obvious failure and necessary removal of the socialists in power, and second, the practicability of our newly won, rightful, and responsible independence. It is easy for a voter to consider national interests, but when he is trapped by the fingers of government, his vote becomes selfish, in his mind, a matter of survival. Many know by instinct today’s corruptions, but fear voting their conscience would be self-destructive, so people need an alternative.

In this vein, I see a market ripe for fulfilling the needs of people in their move to independence. Here, I think, is a perfect opportunity for the evil capitalism, the greedy entrepreneur, yeah, Americanism, to prove once again their worth.

Let us create products and services that aid the independence of the individual and his transition away from the corrupting influence of government. Reducing the size and reach of gov’t will grow the economy, but increasing individual independence will grow the economy and enhance the dignity of our people.

What specific transitional needs do you envision? How can your business facilitate these needs for your customers? What can you offer to help the man help himself that will also solidify and grow your customer base? What new product or service can launch a business in this market? What does government do that you can do better, and without intrusion? Ask the questions, help solve the problems, help your fellow American from under the government thumb, make a buck.

Anxious to see what, if anything comes of this idea. Please comment, trackback, share, or even discuss without me. I only wish to see the country I love return to what I love, secured liberty, that is, responsible freedom, and the dignity and value that independence brings to her people.
